Stunning 18th Century hand painted Tyrolean wardrobe.
 
Typical style and design of this period with the slanted corners and curved top.  This example has 2 doors with working lock and key (all original) and a drawer underneath.  The drawer can be locked be a 'secret' wooden block that is just inside the door - ingenious.  The inside has been upholstered at some point during its life and it is still in good condition.
 
Tyrolean furniture is mainly characterized by the use of paint on furniture and objects. Each Alpine valley had its own characteristic way of painting furniture, with distinct colors and subjects, also given the particular geographical conformation of the territory in which these furniture were produced.
